Würth IT welcomed a total of 25 schoolgirls to its locations in Waldzimmern and Berlin on April 23, 2026 to mark the nationwide Girls' Day. The day of action, also known as Girls' Future Day, offers schoolgirls throughout Germany the opportunity to gain insights into professional fields in which women are still underrepresented - especially in the fields of information technology, engineering and natural sciences.
Practical insights into the world of IT
At the Waldzimmern site, Würth IT offered the participants the opportunity to get to know different areas of information technology and gain their first practical experience. The day of the event began with a joint welcome and round of introductions, which created an open and appreciative atmosphere right from the start.
In the following program items, the students were able to become active themselves and immerse themselves in a variety of IT topics. The program included initial programming experiences with the characters Elsa and Anna from the animated film "Frozen".
The program was supplemented by practical network tasks to teach a basic understanding of networks and interactive quiz formats. In addition, the participants were given a playful introduction to working with hardware using Funduino. In various hardware quizzes, they were also able to experiment on laptops themselves and try out technical connections in practice.
"Action days like Girls' Day are a key component of our work with young talent. They give schoolgirls the opportunity to discover their own strengths, get to know new perspectives and experience job profiles with an open mind. In this way, we specifically awaken motivation, self-confidence and lasting interest in starting a career in the STEM field," says Anna-Lena Kreuder, HR Officer Young Talents.
At the same time, ten other schoolgirls were welcomed to the Berlin site by Jerome Michel, who organized the day of action together with the Young Talents team. Programming tasks with Elsa and Anna were also on the agenda here. There was also a special focus on an introduction to the world of soldering, which was implemented in cooperation with Würth Electronics.
The participants were given an insight into basic technical relationships and put these into practice in joint practical tasks. A joint lunch break also provided space for personal exchanges - both with each other and with Würth IT employees.
Commitment to young talent
By taking part in Girls' Day, Würth IT GmbH is underlining its ongoing commitment to getting young people - and young women in particular - interested in information technology topics at an early age and showing them concrete career prospects in the industry. The day of action is part of a large number of initiatives with which the company specifically promotes young talent and accompanies them on their way into the digital working world.
